A Musical tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by Maestro Dr Ghazal Srinivas in 100 Global languages.Music Maestro Dr Ghazal Srinivas performed in 100 languages in a Concert: A Guinness Book of World Record in a new category.
Famous Ghazal Maestro Dr Ghazal Srinivas sang in 100 languages in a concert held at
ijayawada, an Educational city of Andhra Pradesh, India.
The concert started on 2nd of June 2008 on Historic Gandhi Hill at 6pm and concluded at 3am on 3rd June 2008 by creating a new Guinness book of world Record in the new category- most languages sung in a concert.
Dr Ghazal Srinivas has written the song in his mother tongue-Telugu language.
He then had the song translated into 100 languages i.e. 44 foreign languages and 56 Indian languages.
The song composed is based on the Satyagraha philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi.
This musical tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by Dr Ghazal Srinivas was graced by many dignitaries like Mr. Mandali Buddha Prasad, Honorable Minister for Animal husbandry and fisheries, a true Gandhian and publisher of Gandhi Kshetra magazine; Mr. L Raja Gopal, member of Parliament; Prof Y Lakshmi Prasad, Chairman, Hindi Academy, Govt of Andhra Pradesh; Mr. Nasar Vali, Mr. Devineni Rajasekhar and Dr Ch Satyanaraya Murthy members of Legislative Assembly; Sri I Venkaiah Member of Legislative Assembly; Mrs. Mallika begum, Mayor Vijayawada; Sri J Sankar, former Mayor of Vijayawada; and Dr T Kutumba Rao, renowned Journalist. Other Musicians, multi Linguistic personalities and nearly 5 thousand audiences gathered for the concert.
The concert was also attended by a few translators of the song of different nationalities Mrs. Sandra Parra of Spain, Mr. yaan of Check Republic, Mr. Parra of Portugal, Mr. kaba Arega of Ethiopia, Mr. Alwen of Tanzania, Mr. Chandrasena of Sri Lanka, Mr. Hamid Reza of Afghanistan .
Among the 44 foreign languages that he sang, to name a few are : German, Spanish, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Romanian, Italian, Russian, English, Polish, Bahasa, Persian, Dari, Pashtu etc
Among the 56 Indian languages, he sang in all recognized languages and also in tribal languages of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipuri etc
Dr GhazalSrinivas enthralled the audience with his melodious voice, rich musical values and message of Mahatma Gandhi. They had a rare opportunity of listening to him sing in 100 languages which he rendered with good diction and pronunciation.
During the concert some of the
eminent people spoke about the philosophy of gandhiji .A few translators also gave their
opinions on the song as well as how well Dr ghazal Srinivas rendered it.
In all it was a mesmerizing event where Dr ghazal Srinivas sang non stop
without even sitting down once.
At the conclusion of the concert Sri L Raja Gopal , member of Parliament said,” it was a great performance by ghazalsrinivas”.
Musicians of the Orchestra and few translators present were felicitated by Sri Rajagopal.
Finally the event was concluded with the song “Raghupathi Raghava Raja Raam’ sung by the entire audience.
